The Q4 “Dymo Time” promotion from Dymo is finishing at the end of December, but there are still lots of the big prizes left to win.

So far the trip to New York has not been won, and there are still several iPhones and lots of iPod Nano devices to be claimed. So if you’re after a Dymo machine don’t wait until January (prices aren’t going to get any cheaper!) get one now from a participating website and claim your prize.

Every purchase of a qualifying labeller will win a prize (see Dymo site for list of the qualifying labelmakers).

Note: The just launched Dymo LabelWriter 450 range of label printers also qualify for this competition, even though they weren’t originally listed in the qualifying machines (as they weren’t due to launch until 2010).

The Dymo LabelPoint 250 Label Maker has now been officially discontinued by Dymo. The Labeller has been replaced by the new LabelManager 220P handheld printer.

The Dymo LabelPoint 350 Label Maker has now been discontinued by Dymo. There is no direct replacement for this handheld labeller, but the desktop version (the LabelManager 350) is functionally equivelant – just not handheld. The LabelManager 450D is also available, but again this is a desktop label machine.

Dymo have now launched the Labelwriter 450‘s in the UK, although stocks of the Twin and DUO models are limited at the moment, and Turbos are few and far between.

But the standard (cheap!) model is now available in large quantities here:

The Brand New Dymo LabelWriter 450 printer that was launched earlier this year in the US is now being launched in the UK ahead of it’s previously announced official JAN 2010 launch date.

The first stock is expected to be available as soon as next week from the Dymo Label Printers website.

The site is now taking pre-launch orders, so you can order now and they will be shipped Next Day when the first stocks arrive.

Dymo have started a new promotional campaign for the last 3 months of the year, with 15,000 prizes to be claimed.

I haven’t managed to get a full list of prizes yet, but it includes a trip to New York, 1 or more Apple IPhones, 1 or more Apple Ipod Nanos, and (probably thousands) of Sharpie Marker Pens. I’ll post again when I get a full list of prizes and the quantites of each.

Every purchase of a qualifying labeller will win a prize (see site for list of the qualifying labelmakers).

On top of the promotion Dymo Label Printers are offering various other special offers, including: Free extra labels (in addtion to the ones that comes free in the box) on several label makers, and a Starter Kit worth £70 with every Labelwriter Turbo printer.

If you were looking for one then now’s definately a good time to buy a labeler!

The Windows 7 drivers will be made available with the release of the new DYMO Label™ v.8 software. The UK release is expected “at the end of September” – I’m assuming that’s 2009… ;-)

It’s not clear at this stage if any of the old LW3xx series will be supported, but I think it’s fairly safe to assume that the really old ones that weren’t Vista compatible probably won’t be Windows 7 compatible either.

Currently it is not possible to get the LabelWriter working with the Windows 7 drivers using the latest version of the Dymo Label Software.

We get a lot of requests for Vista drivers for old 300 series label printers, and there is some amount of confusion over this so here is the clarification:

The Dymo Labelwriter Vista driver (DLS 7.7 / DLS 7.8) works only for certain models (you can find the model number on the label underneath your printer):

LabelWriter 310: models 90966, 93029 & 93034
LabelWriter 320: models 90892, 93031 & 93036
LabelWriter 330 Turbo: models 90884, 93033 & 93038, USB ONLY

If you have these models the Vista driver should work. If you don’t have one of those exact models then the Vista driver will not work. At all. Whichever version of drivers you use.

The other models will still work on XP/2000 using the DLS 7.6 version.

As far as we know Dymo have no plans to include any further models in any future release of the drivers or software. Presumably there is some technical reason for this, after all the 300 series are getting quite old now and were around long before Vista.

If you have one of these ‘non-compatible’ labellers then Dymo, rather cryptically, suggest that you contact the Dymo Helpdesk for “a proper solution” – whatever that means.

Anyway, the helpdesk can be reached at helpdesk@dymo.com if you want to give it a go. And if you do, please report back here and let the King know what the solution is…
